Your credit rating is becoming more important now than ever before. It is no longer just for obtaining credit cards or financing a car. Home and Car insurance, cellular and home phone connections, establishing utilities for your home, employment, and now even airline travel are all using your credit rating to determine their risk of doing business with you. We personally believe that things have gone too far, although doesn't appear that things will be changing anytime soon.

That being said, we need to know what our credit scores are and how we can improve them. You can obtain your credit report from the three the major credit bureaus we've listed below. Once you receive this report, you should look it over very carefully and make sure everything is correct. If items on your report are not accurate, you can dispute them with each credit bureau or have an attorney or professional credit repair company assist you with the disputes. If all items are correct, you may still want to contact the companies listed on your report and ask for items to be removed (such as 30 day lates or repossessions). It will take some effort on your part, but the sooner you begin, the sooner you will be able to enjoy the benefits of having good credit.

Also, you must be aware of certain credit repair agencies. Not all companies or individuals offer the same services; some may even have you defraud your creditors or credit bureaus. You may not have a problem with that now, but it may come back to haunt you later. So be careful, ask for qualifications, and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
